NJDEP's Response to May '21 SRS Adoption Inquiries

On May 17, 2021, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) adopted soil remediation standards for the migration to groundwater exposure pathway.

Since then, the NJDEP has gotten inquiries related to whether restricted use remedial actions are allowed for this exposure pathway, such as cases where soil contamination remains in exceedance of these migration to ground water remediation standards.

In response, the NJDEP has issued a guidance document further addressing the issue. Information is available in the Site Remediation Guidance Library and Remediation Standards website.

It will be interesting to watch as this progresses and see developing cases.
