RAO Guidance Document Vers. 3.0

The NJDEP has released a revised guidance document for the Response Action Outcome (RAO) letter. The revision updates Version 2.0 (April 2016) to Version 3.0 (October 2021). The following Notices are now included in the newest version:

Well Decommissioning- This notice was incorrect in Version 2.0 and has been replaced with the correct version from the Model Response Action Outcome promulgated in ARRCS, N.J.A.C. 7:26C.

Sediment Contamination from an Off-Site Source Not Remediated- General notice

Three On-Site Commingled Plume Conditions Exist notices

Transfer of Monitoring Well Use (Redesignated use)

Indeterminate Vapor Intrusion (VI) Pathway Not Yet Evaluated

Long-Term Vapor Intrusion Monitoring

The NJDEP RAO Guidance Document now includes additional examples for instructional sections as well as instructions and a shell document on how to withdraw an RAO. An RAO Type Decision Matrix has also been provided in tabular format.

LSRPs can find additional guidance in crafting the RAO with a newly added RAO Shell Scenarios/Instructions section which is based on frequently identified scenarios.
