About the Job Offering

Recent college graduates, this is a great opportunity to join our team. GSI is currently seeking a full-time or part-time (with option to move into full-time) entry level Environmental Assessor for our Sacramento and Irvine, CA locations. The ideal applicant will possess an environmental degree from an accredited institution.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Site reconnaissance

  • Document review (historical records, regulatory agency files, etc.)

  • Organize and compile data (generate site figures, tabulate analytical results, etc.)

  • Report authoring

  • Coordinate and communicate project specific task details

  • Meet project specific task deadlines

  • Other tasks as assigned by Project Manager

Additional Tasks

  • Complete project specific tasks under direction of Project Manager

  • Communicate deviations in scope accurately

  • Coordinate and deliver progress updates

  • Plan, communicate, and schedule tasks in a timely manner to meet deadlines

  • Compile and assess data

  • Perform research as applicable to the project (historical records, online resources, etc.)

  • Technical report writing

  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies (local, state and federal) to obtain responsive records

  • Compile and prepare supporting documentation

  • Identify project obstacles and present solutions for completion

  • Develop recommendations based on factual evidence that supports conclusions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from accredited institution in Environmental, Physical, or Biological Sciences, or a related discipline. Experience may be substituted on a case by case basis.

  • Valid Driver License

  • Excellent writing, organizational, time management and multi-tasking capabilities

  • Personable and able to communicate with people at all levels

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat preferred

  • Knowledge of how to use Google or similar search engine for research purposes

  • State regulatory knowledge a plus

  • Internships in an environmental or related field a plus

  • Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team and independently

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English

  • Must be able to communicate clearly in person, over the phone, and via email

  • Must be able to work in a typical office setting

  • Must be able to effectively perform work outdoors in all types of weather conditions

  • Specific vision abilities required include reading information on a computer screen, from printed sources and close vision/ability to focus.

  • Job regularly requires sitting, standing, and walking and may require bending, stretching, reaching or crouching. Lifting or moving up to 25 lbs may be required.
