About the Job Offering
GSI is currently seeking a full-time Environmental Assessor for our Southern California office. The ideal applicant will possess an environmental degree from an accredited institution with 2-5 years experiences in the environmental due diligence field with a focus on commercial real estate. The position is primarily work from home, with sporadic mobilization in our service area. Preferred geographic locations: Thousand Oaks, Irvine, Riverside regions.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Field investigations
Document review (environmental, historical, regulatory agency files, etc.)
Compilation and organization of project specific data (generate site figures, tabulate analytical results, etc.)
Coordinate project specific tasks with site personnel, regulatory agencies, and team members
Research as required to complete project tasks
Report authoring
Meet project specific deadlines within budget
Other duties as assigned by Project Manager
Additional Tasks
Plan, communicate, and schedule tasks in a timely manner to meet deadlines within budget
Identify project obstacles and present solutions for completion
Communicate deviations in scope accurately
Coordinate and deliver progress updates
Compile and assess data
Perform research as applicable to the project (historical records, online resources, etc.)
Technical report writing
Coordinate with regulatory agencies (local, state and federal) to obtain responsive records
Compile and prepare supporting documentation
Develop recommendations based on factual evidence that supports conclusions
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from accredited institution in Environmental, Physical, or Biological Sciences, or a related discipline. Experience may be substituted on a case by case basis.
Valid Driver License, willingness to travel as necessary
Previous experience performing Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) preferred
State regulatory knowledge
Excellent writing, organizational, time management and multi-tasking capabilities
Personable and able to communicate with people at all levels
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat preferred
Knowledge of how to use Google or similar search engine for research purposes
Experience with Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), Site Investigations and/or Remedial Investigations a plus
Physical Requirements
Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
Must be able to communicate clearly in person, over the phone, and via email
Must be able to work in a typical office setting
Must be able to effectively perform work outdoors in all types of weather conditions
Specific vision abilities required include reading information on a computer screen, from printed sources and close vision/ability to focus.
Job regularly requires sitting, standing, and walking and may require bending, stretching, reaching or crouching. Lifting or moving up to 25 lbs may be required.
